Of traceurs and German poetry

  • Apr. 14th, 2009 at 11:51 PM

After playing Mirror's Edge demo on the PS3 for about... dunno, you put a number to the hours I spent there, I realized how cool parkour and free running are, and went ahead to look for tons of videos on YouTube, and found a load of them, unfortunately I cannot embed any of them, I have no FREAKING idea why. But the Live Action version of Mirror's Edge trailer definitely left me breathless, I was like... OMG AIR I'M GONNA DIE WITHOUT YOU IN MY LUNGS!!!!... so, yeah.

>>>>>>> LINK OF AWESOMENESS <<<<<<<  'cuz LJ won't let me embed the vid

But seriously, traceurs are like shit from another planet, not only what they do is amazing, because they go and with the abilities of any normal human being, they can achieve things that we would only imagine of see in movies, but also their ideology is pretty amazing. They say that the only thing in your way (literally and metaphorically) is you... and that's so fucking true. They learn how to live in harmony with their environment and (more importantly) with themselves, only by developing the ability of free movement of their bodies. THAT'S SICK!!!!!!! O0O

Also, on other notes, but in the same existentialism tints.  My German teacher's idea of a good time is... homework and reading some random (really difficult) german book, so in order to encourage me to like German better, he went ahead and lent me a book. A poetry book (in THAT, he hit the nail on the head), 'cuz he knows I love it. But it's not just ANY poetry book, it's a Bertolt Brechts' work compilation Hauspostille. It's great poetry, I won't deny that, but... it's heavy shit. I mean, Brechts was banned from Germany for a long time, as his work was influenced by politics and the precarious situation Germany was living in. So.. yeah, love the dude but some of the poems make you want to slit your wrists and kill some others while you're at it O.O!!

Oh, and as I read, I felt somewhat inspired by his beautiful 2 lines poems. Simplicity is beauty, they say, and I couldn't agree more. So, here, barely 10 words (including title):

Fehlerlos
Ihre Perfektion ist
in die Schönheit ihren
Fehlern gelegen.
.
(Translation: Flawless / Her perfection lies on the beauty of her flaws.)

Of entries for Nuu (of music and hair o.o)

  • Apr. 13th, 2009 at 9:40 PM
argh
So, as it would've happened normally, I linked [info]steam_pilot to my previous entry, 'cuz it had music of awesomeness, but I had to share moar... 'cuz it's awesome, right?

Rob Dougan is well known for a number of different things, like... his songs in movie soundtracks, in adverts, in TV themes, games, sport events and so on. One of the most notorious appearances is his song Clubbed to Death (Kurayamino Variation) in The Matrix (and sequels) soundtracks.

What I love about the guy is not only the amazing instrumental compositions, but the mix of them with electronic sounds and a strong, imposing voice that usually you don't hear in this kind of music. Such jewel HAS to be shared, and since I promised nuu to do it, the whole first album on mediafire :D

And... I cut my hair, again. It's pretty different of anything I've had before, but it's very cute. I had some coloured (red) extensions, but the glue was driving me nuts so I *HAD* to take them off (with nail-polish remover!). It looks cute cute CUTE still :D

Pic is awful, it's my bathroom at 6:30AM, first day of school after the break... and me feeling AWFULLY sleepy. CLICK on image makes it BIGGAH :]

Of movies and music

This break, although short, was very enjoyable. I spent it doing a lot of stuff that I would normally won't do. But it's the the things I usually do that I most enjoyed. Lately, I've watched a lot of movies, but three of them are the ones I liked most. I bought two of them and one that I haven't able to find but will purchase as soon as I find it available :D  So, it's movies first and that's how I start:

Disney's Enchanted is a movie that I watched when it came out back in 2007, I've always been a fairy tale fan so of course I was excited when I saw the poster. I was expecting it to be animated in its totality; when I saw it was a... mixed media, I was reluctant as to what to expect, and at some point I was disappointed even before watching, but I was so happy to be wrong. The combination of fantasy elements with reality was really good and well balanced, and how they managed to tell the story was genius. Along with the soundtrack (which is really important to me) it made the movie, well, truly... enchanting, hehe.

The tale of a little knight, who's bravery came to my screen to show me (and my mother) not only a good time, but also that we should never be afraid of anything, and that the most important thing is being able to forgive... and shit. Truth is, I fell in love with Despereaux, who is probably the most adorable mouse I've ever seen, along with Roscuro (the most awesome rat after Remy), reminded me how good it feels to be different and not shaken by anyone else's ideals and convictions. I've always been different and had problems for it, but who cares as long as I'm happy. The Tale of Despereaux reminded me that no matter what, I must stay truth to myself and things go their way.  Hehe, curious thing about this movie is I refused to watch it when it came to the movie theatre 'cuz I thought it was an Spanish movie... and God knows those movies' quality is atrocious.

Last but not least, Der Krieger und die Kaiserin is a german movie starring Franka Potente (who's honestly not amongst my favorite german actors) and Benno Fürmann (whom I love). I'm not very fond of german movies, because they're usually either too crude or too melodramatic, but there are in fact a few german films that I love, this being the newest addition to that list. Looking at the title I expected something cheesy and stupid, and oh I was so wrong (why didn't I see it coming, I mean... it's GERMAN!). The story depicts the life of Sissi, a nurse in a mental clinic who suffers from an accident, and Bodo Riemer who... suffers from another accident, but by the means of fate ends up helping Sissi when she most needed it and... the rest of germans wouldn't do a thing, and this is how a love story begins. But oh! such weird love story, and that's what made me watch until the very end and... makes me recommend this movie, strongly. That, and the awesome character that Benno developed, so strong, rude and yet so vulnerable (and hot).

Err... music recommendations (and every time I write in my journal that's the only thing I write about, and makes my LJ seem like a review blog instead of a personal one and I donnot give a crap). I found these couple artists who I know I've heard before but never really paid attention, and now that I did I'm in love. I could get the complete album from two of them, and from another I could only get one song because my eMusic account decided to expire right when I was gonna purchase the damn things.

I upload and share, 'cuz sharing makes the world go round and round... like a record baby, right round... OK, bad joke.

Lisa Miskovsky - Still Alive (Mirror's Edge Theme US radio edit) own the whole album, can upload if wanted
009 Sound System - Dreamscape
Rob Dougan - There's Only Me this one's used as the Law & Order: Criminal Intent UK theme

Long entry is long, mine always are <.<

I felt like drinking tea, but I didn't want to go out and buy it, so I had to make some on my own; I made it in a lil' aluminum thing and felt like a shame to waste it, so I went and looked for my little mug :D

It's just chamomile tea... nothing fancy, haven't had a chance to go and buy more tea <.<

Starting NAO

Well, not really... but tomorrow. The thing that has been driving me nuts it's finally coming to an end by... starting tomorrow LOL. I'll be taking pictures and then posting them here for no one to see.
We're going to put posters all around the city and will probably be calling Miguel Angel Ojeda for him to help us promote the event in his radio show... everyone listens to the guy, and even when you hate him you end up listening... he's got that strange power over people, guess that makes him a good broadcaster.

Let's see... what else, mhhhh. I have no money and a lot of things I want to buy. But I recently got a lot of magazines and mangas I ordered and haven't finished paying yet. I want to buy the newest Michiru Heya by Nekota, I hate her because she's been working on that original doujin based on In the God's arms for quite a while now but she won't make it part of the manga. She only wants me (yeah, specifically ME) to spend my money, she's a cruel one.

I've been feeling like drawing lately so that's what I've been doing every time I have free time. Now I drew another character from the newest chapter of Work in, which will be released as soon as... who knows when. I have no idea what his name is, I just thought he's cute and god knows I'm a menkui. So here, I tried colouring but didn't like it, so lineart only.

Also, I decided to try translating into English a song in Spanish that I like a lot. Worth mentioning is that I don't like the band, nor the video (which I think it's awful), but the lyrics, even with all the figurative language, are beautiful. So I'm sharing :D

Lots and lots going on

Mhn... where to start. I know nobody reads this shit, so it doesn't really matter. But, there has been a lot going on lately. I've been busy with the festival and I honestly can't help but feel exhausted and kinda disappointed even though this hasn't ended yet. Troubles keep coming up and these weird shit with who were supposed to be my best friend and keepin' my back and turns out I get stabbed while I wasn't lookin'

I haven't had much time to work on VnD's projects which is definitely not good if you ask me and I really wanna start scanning the new projects and stuff. Hopefully I'll have some time after the festival, that is if the catching up with the classes doesn't stop me from like... living.

Anyway, stop with the rambling and go with the sharing.

This week's best was definitely Detektivbyrån, [info]steam_pilot showed me a vid on YouTube and I couldn't help but love it. It makes me feel like in those awesome circus that were the real deal back in the 30s. So I had to do it, and share the wealth.

And a pic I drew, because I wanted to try Jaryuu Dokuro's style, just for the heck of it. 15 minute doodle, 'cuz the hair was a pain in the ass <.<

Teen love

  • Sep. 16th, 2008 at 10:18 PM
something
I was going through my old music back ups  and I had to come across a few songs that definitely made me feel that the years had gone by way too fast. It was a couple songs by Our Lady Peace that made my heart throb with pain, and it wasn't really the lyrics, but more like the memories that these songs brought with them.

I used to listen to that kind of songs when I was still a teen, I was around 14-16, I remember perfectly. These songs made me think of what was happening to me back then, things that seemed so tragic and complicated at the time, but now just come to my mind as bittersweet memories, and I say bittersweet because they weren't exactly pleasant.

I started thinking about love... how in love I was. For me, love has always been naïve, so of course it was extremely special for me to be in love, and the person I was in love was no less than another teen. Ah, our situation was tragic yet so hilarious. As all teens, we tended to make everything complicated, and even though we actually KNEW we liked each other, we just wouldn't say anything! Why? Well, because we saw problems in every corner... everyone was against us and our love was forbidden! I would cry and he would always come and talk to me implying that he cared, that he really loved me. Of course there was a bad guy in the story, and all the gang backing him up, he had his eyes in one of us (if not both, haha) and made everything unbearable. I remember us making plans of running away and living together, leaving everything behind and just go away.

So tragic, so much drama... I could go on and on about what happened, and how would we react to every situation, but the point is that I realized that i won't ever have that kind of love again (if I ever have love again, LOL). I've been alone for a while now, and even my last relationship was rather boring, the problematics become different and where did all the fun drama go? I want the sweet pain back, I want the thrilling emotion of insignificant issues, I want that the peak of the relationship is when you get your feelings through the other party in just a kiss, or when the most difficult thing is saying "I like you", damn I want some teen love!

OK, got it off my system... good :D

Juno (2007)

I wanted to start with something technically new and worth reading (not that my opinions usually aren't, on the contrary), so I decided to wait and go watch Juno on the theater. So, the movie poster and plot summary will be here and my personal review and trailer will be under the cut, please be welcomed to comment and give me your thoughts on both the movie and my review on it.

Juno (2007) / A comedy about growing up... and the bumps along the way.

Plot summary: Juno McGuff is a sixteen year old girl with a fairly nonchalant vision of life; she's now pregnant from a one-time encounter with his best friend and band partner Paulie Bleeker. They don't take their relationship seriously, so when Juno became aware of her situation she decides to abort, decision with which Paulie seems to agree (more likely, he's just letting her have her way... whatever that is), but  at the end she just can't pull it through. She then has to tell her father and her stepmother, who would rather have her expelled from school or on drugs, but support her anyway. Juno then decides that she's going to give her child in adoption, and starts to look for the right parents to raise the yet unborn baby. She comes across an ad on the Pennysaver; the Lorings, is a couple that lives in a fancy house in the suburbs. From the couple, Vanessa Loring seems to be the eager one to have this baby, telling Juno they'll do everything to make this agreement work. As her pregnancy goes along, she finds herself in situations she didn't even imagine she'll be in. The perfect couple is unexpectedly having troubles and this makes her world tremble, as she's also experiencing changes in her relationships with her parents and with his friend Paulie. Difficult decisions to make, in such difficult times...

I'm actually in the middle of the class, and too bored, but need to continue, so... I will write more later... or not, depends of my boredness level O.O!
